Situated only 90 minutes from Geneva, Champéry offers postcard Swiss village charm with preserved architecture, a flourishing restaurant scene and direct access to Les Portes du Soleil - the world’s largest internationally ski domain with 194 ski lifts and 90 on-piste restaurants. One of Champéry’s key selling features is its easy access to Les Portes du Soleil’s incredible network of ski lifts, making Champéry a top ski and mountain bike destination. Regardless of the season, each day offers a new safari for skiers, hikers and mountain bike enthusiasts of all levels.
The village itself is also another attraction. The main street features beautifully kept wood chalets with tantalizing storefronts and eating establishments and the village is small enough to keep everything within walking distance. Overlooking Champéry are the 7 spectacular peaks of Les Dents du Midi which rival the Matterhorn and the Eiger in natural beauty. In recent years, an influx of young and dynamic chefs has made Champéry’s restaurant scene one of the best kept culinary secrets of the Alps.
This follows the path of 90 on-piste restaurants throughout Les Portes du Soleil which for years have been delighting discerning guests and food critics alike. A specially created Pass Gourmet guidebook highlights the best local specialties. Also centrally located is Champéry’s Palladium (National Ice Sports Centre) with on-site accommodation and meeting rooms, fitness centre, indoor pool, skating and curling rinks as well as outdoor pool, clay tennis and beach volleyball courts.
During the high-season, the Tourism Office organises diverse activities including guided hikes and walks, an award-winning Via Ferrata, and breakfast on a Swiss alpine farm with demonstrations of traditional cheese-making. Folkloric activities and festivals abound as do activities for children.
